UPDATED: There is a NEW government program called the Affordable Connectivity Program (the ACP) that you can apply for and get Internet access for no more than $30. but probably for less! I pay $10 a month for my Internet from AT&T, Here is the AT&T Access page with details. The ACP cost varies to as low as FREE depending on speed available, and in EDC, the download speed is as slow as it gets!

If you maybe came into Cottonwood from a life of Comcast for TV and probably Internet (Wi-Fi) combined. You might now be signed up with a Comcast contract* and are spending $80 and more. What would you think about $10 a month, flat rate. No contract. Equipment supplied, no charge. How could you do this? Start with a SNAP card, then choose between AT&T or Comcast Internet Essentials, both offer the same deal but AT&T is the easier sign-up.
Note: the download speed is pretty slow (maybe 6 Mbps? Not a typo,Yes, six!) But it works for videos and web browsing. Maybe a second or two pauses on PBS, ABC, NBC, or CBS. But it is not really so bad when you think about what it costs. Ten bucks? A few seconds of pause it bearable. Check Internet Access from AT&T or Internet Essentials from Comcast. Either one is $10 a month.
Note: If you are on a contract with Comcast, you cannot escape it unless you pay for the balance due. And if you ask to be switched to Essentials plan, they tell you that you must quit Comcast for several months before you can come back and get Essentials! A six month wait ithout wi-fi? I don't think so. AT&T is ready to start your account right now. Same price, same service, what do you think is the better way to go?
