OK, joke's over! A few months ago, the hallways offered a little cheerfulness in the Deadwood environment. Many doorways had a personalized display of some sort. Not every door, but many had something cheerful, like a display of flowers, lastic though they were, or some other symbol of a resident's personality. Then one day notices were put on the doors to tell us that we needed to remove everything that sat on the floor in front of our doors. There was no explanation given, simply a demand that the decorations were no longer allowed!
It was a stretch to think that maybe the carpets were going to be replaced (frequently mentioned, nothing done) or possibly simply cleaned! Now that so much time has passed with neither of those two possibilities coming true, don't you think that it would be nice to put our displays back up? Wouldn't it be nice if there were some things around here that indicated life?
There is nothing around the buildings that has much in the way of fun or joy associated with it. Of course this is my opinion only, but seriously, there are no blooming flowers, there is very little to attract butterflies or birds, I doubt it squirrel ever has reason to scamper across the grass? And personally, I am tired of walking past that old, broken down, wooden bench that is well weathered and due to be replaced. It is broken and splintered and purely bad symbol of Cottonwood.
So if anyone has any ideas on what we might do to do something a little frivolous, maybe even daring and fun, that might be something to bring a smile to people moving about the building. Please post your comment, or simply tell me to give up on this personal wish.
