It's time to order more seeds. In September we scattered thousands of Alyssum seeds along the rocky border of the entry walk. I had a vision of a nice dense display of low growing plants that are filled with tiny flowers the bloom all year. No maintenance, no need to tend or water, just nice to see. And fragrant enough to attract butterflies! The plan was to get them started in time for imminent rains. They take two months to germinate!
So two months passed, and the garden crew appeared and sprayed the border with weed killer. Management had given us permission to try sunflowers, telling the garden police to NOT take actions agains anything in the rocks. So all of a sudden they decide to spray? Nuts!
New seeds ordered, rains are happening, a new year arriving,..I will not quit. How can I not see 2020 as a year for progress?

Steve, you may have to resort to Roundup Ready crops. Monsanto currently only offers soybeans, corn, canola, sugar beets, cotton, and alfalfa, but short of nuclear holocaust, they should grow no matter what is sprayed on them.

Bingo! Soybeans! I can sell these to China, pay my rent. The hell with the butterflies. Good idea.
