Since monthly Community Meetings were initiated in January, '19, I have made it to most. From the first one, and usually every meeting since, there are mentions of homeless people getting in at night. Found sleeping on a couch, or maybe wandering the halls, there have been stories.
As stories were added, I eventually heard that there is a sit-down shower on the second floor! I live on the second floor but that was news to me. I had heard that this place was originally meant to be a place for disabled people, with a 24-hr nurse on duty. So the special shower is a "hidden" relic, and yet it is somehow known to the homeless! Adding to this, management announced that the shower was available to residents if you arrange for them to come unlock it, and stay around to lock it when you leave. So is it still being used? I do not know. But the mystery of homeless visitors continues. Months ago, surveillance cameras were installed around the building. Doors are locked at 7:00pm. So would you be surprised to hear that somebody has been seen dropping a key to a visitor, to let then in. I think my first question is to find out who is dropping the key? What are the cameras for if there is no answer to that?
On Thanksgiving day, my helper candy reported that she and her husband had helped clean up the sit-down shower room because it was flooded. Raise your hand if you see something needing explanation, since the door to the shower is locked. Did a resident use the shower? I doubt our door keys would open the bathroom door, I sure don't know. In fact I have no idea what the shower even is. But you should be reminded that leaving your apartment, even for a trip to get the mail, you should lock up. And lock the door at night! I have been told of a person having s stranger come walking in on then, "by mistake."
• Why isn't a Security camera aimed at the door to this shower room door? It has been reported as used several times in the past several months.
• Is it really that hard to get a plumber to the building in an emergency? That seems pretty surprising!
