Trying for two years to offer helpful information and links to let low-income residents, many without access to the Internet! Clearly it was my failure; I assumed the Internet was recognized as a pretty vital service, based on y admitted neediness and years spent in my business designing and maintaining webpages for clients.
Why no Internet? Is it fear? Is it too expensive? Worth mentioning, there are low-income rates available at $10 month if you have SNAP (read that linked page) The fact that Comcast's Xfinity Mobile is basically FREE (read this), allowing the cellphone service like Verizon to be cancelled! Having access to web pages is not a luxury, it is practically a necessity, especially for those who cannot get out on their own.. So if you are aware of neighbors who think the Internet is too high tech, too expensive, or whatever keeps them away, tell them to get with the program.
Okay, some here actually DO have access to the forum. but here actually have been following the forum without signing up! Yes, it is available to read, bot not to comment without joining. Threads (topics) show number of viewings, and the numbers are way more than any accidental views by misguided searches. Not to mention that this forum is basically search proof.
I have made some significant changes. Nothing taken away that was put here to help you get HEAP for utilities, or maybe info on getting SNAP (food assistance) and certainly not easing up on promoting a huge savings by using Xfinity mobile wi-fi for essentially free use of a smartphone. But what has been added is the expanded invitation to all Senior citizens in our nearby communities. Retired people with the same (presumably) needs of the aging population: legal and medical information links, of course. But also opportunities to find online activities, books, music even TV and videos. No I have added new hobby sections, and a new area for places to take a local day-trip, with ADA information included. The plan is to include a chance for those with walkers or even wheelchairs to know there are places to get out to see Nature! Beautiful places, out of the city.
So for the few here who are browsing, please sign up. There is no spamming or selling of your data. This is not Facebook, it's better/ And tell your reluctant neighbors to come to the party! Now let's make it one.
