Don't be afraid. You obviously use the Internet, but only on a cellphone? NOT so good; tiny screen is fine for a phone number list or a few short items, but if you want a movie or a book when the power is off, a basic tablet is going to be appreciated! Not only is there a bigger screen to look at, there is also lots more data for video or music. And for relatively small price? You could try the Fire 7" Tablet! This is only about $50, and it is better than just a Smartphone for grocery shopping, hopefully using a cheap wi-fi network to save your expensive cellular plan Data. UPDATE: Having actually bought the Fire 7" to really know what it was like, it's pretty small to work with, and it was discovered that you cannot install an app for shopping! But you can actually just use the store's website to load choices into a cart and check out, ordering delivery OR pick up, as you do. Bottom LineYou can do so much more with just a tablet that a computer is just overkill. You can do most everything you probably would want. But I'm guessing the tablet would never be wanted for intensive tasks. Ordering groceries, maybe listening to music or news? Too small for watching Netflix, but in a pinch? Sure, doing laundry and staying by to keep the thieves from taking any items, watch a movie. BONUS: You would need to have Wi-Fi but the Fire tablet comes with Alexa, the smart voice that answers your questions and is a surprising helper.
